Hair color "sad blonde"?! Can we counteract it?

we love to dye our hairMany of us love to dye our hair. However, after washing, the color can take on all sorts of unpredictable shades, especially in summer when we wet our hair more often. A color applied just a week ago should last more than seven days. Or? Can we keep the color shades longer?
We talked about the harmful effects of sunlight and why it lightens hair, especially dyed hair, in our previous blog post. We also hinted at how the BRAVE. NEW. HAIR. Color series is specially designed to combat one of the main factors that damage hair in summer – the sun’s UV rays. In this post, we will explain how the series helps maintain the color intensity and shine of dyed hair. The combination of selected active ingredients includes a UV filter, Quinoa Extract, and a Phytocomplex with Fruit Acids from Grape, Apple, Lemon, Wheat Germ, and Green Walnut Extract. How do they work?
hair dyeTo understand the essence of products for dyed hair, we need to imagine the main structures of the hair strand related to the dyeing process, as well as the dyeing process itself. The outermost layer of the hair strand is the cuticle, which is its protective part and consists of 6-8 layers of plate-like keratin formations. The middle and largest layer is the cortex, which consists of keratin fibers arranged in spirals. This is where the natural pigment of the hair – melanin – is contained. We will tell you more about the hair structure in the next blog post.
Classic hair dyes work on the principle of aggressive chemical processes involving the release of oxygen. That is why it is very important to use products with antioxidant action after dyeing. The dye consists of two parts – a coloring cream containing ammonia or another alkaline agent, and an oxidizing cream with dyes containing peroxide. When mixed, they activate each other. The alkaline agent together with the oxidizing cream dissolves the hair cuticle and penetrates the cortex. Then the oxidizing cream bleaches the natural hair color and reacts chemically with the artificial dyes to achieve the desired new color.
The stability of the artificial color depends on the type of dyes and their amount. The artificial pigments in hair dye are very susceptible to breakdown, especially when exposed to sunlight. That is why the use of UV filters is essential. Besides the color, the hair itself can be seriously damaged by sunlight due to the breakdown of some of its natural proteins, which disrupts the integrity of the hair strand. The appropriate protective ingredient protects the hair from damage, loss of elasticity, and also preserves the chosen color from fading.
The ingredients in the Color series support the dyeing process while simultaneously protecting the hair. Quinoa promotes the accumulation of dyes and their binding to the hair. This makes it harder for the color to wash out and stimulates its saturation. Green walnut and UV protection protect the artificial color from damage caused by environmental factors. Fruit acids close the hair cuticle, prevent lime buildup, and add shine.
UV FILTER
UV-filterHow well UV filters can protect hair depends mainly on their ability to attach to the hair strand. The ingredient in the Color series is specially developed for hair. Its optimized molecule contains a positively charged (cationic) part that successfully accumulates on the hair and protects the color as well as its overall structure.
QUINOA
QuinoaQuinoa proteins are used to maintain and protect hair color, add density, shine, and facilitate styling. They improve pigment absorption during subsequent dyeing. The overall protein structure of quinoa contains the 8 most important amino acids for hair. They include cationic (+) and anionic (-) amino acids of different types. Cationic amino acids attach to the negatively charged structures of the hair. They bind to the cuticle and help anchor and accumulate other, harder-to-attach molecules, such as dyes. In short, these amino acids act as an "anchor" and help accumulate artificial pigments. At the same time, anionic amino acids create a protective matrix around the hair that seals and protects the color from washing out.
FRUIT ACIDS
Fruit acidsFruit acids find ideal application in caring for dyed hair thanks to their rich phytocomplex obtained through a patented bioliquefaction technology. It helps lock in color and enhance shine. The phytocomplex is created by selecting grape, apple, lemon, and non-GMO wheat germ. It improves shine thanks to its anti-lime effect and protects dyed hair by sealing the hair cuticle to prevent color fading from washing out the dye. The phytocomplex creates an optimal pH for dyed hair and protects it from hard water and dullness.
GREEN WALNUT
Green WalnutA classic and widely used ingredient in hair care. The effect depends greatly on the stage of ripeness when the walnuts are harvested. The green walnut shell has the highest content of polyphenols, which are very effective antioxidants. These are the key to the efficacy of this natural and sustainable extract. Walnut phenols interact well with hair and accumulate intensively, imparting their antioxidant action. The result is good and long-lasting protection against lightening and fading of pigment from environmental exposure.
IDEAS AND USEFUL TIPS:
tips & tricksAlways apply balm or mask Color after dyeing to help retain the dye longer.
If your hair is natural color and you decide to dye it, wash off lime deposits before applying the dye using the Color shampoo so the dye can better penetrate the hair strand.
When dyeing, add one tablespoon of Color mask (about 15 ml) to the dye and mix. This will protect the hair and increase color absorption, which will then wash out more slowly.
If you want to do highlights or an ombre hairstyle, mix the dye with a little Color balm (about 15 ml). The Quinoa extract will help the pigment penetrate the hair, and the colored part will look even brighter.
To protect your hair from UV rays, apply Color balm or mask before sun exposure.
